2007-06-22 Arctic wolf near Wolf Hill.
We had seen tracks of this wolf in valley earlier but this day it was spotted twice. I was checking on some old musk ox carcasses as it suddenly approached me. I had a wide angle zoom mounted and struggled with changing to a longer lens without making too much movement or noise. I got the 70-200/2.8 ready on the D200 but the wolf took a semicircle around me without paying too much attention and then strolled off and disappeared over some hills. I swapped to the good old 400/3.5 and followed. I only managed to get a few nice shots before it paced steadily off. It was nevertheless a great experience to see and photograph my first wild wolf.
